6 Best way to Avoid Mistakes in Self-discovery

In as much, we try to know more about ourselves.  Most people set personal and professional goals in a way that hinders their ability to achieve them. Self-discovery isn’t just about deciding to want to discover about yourself. But it’s about enjoying yourself along the way and being happy with where you end up. The mistakes you must avoid on the path of self-discovery are treated in this write-up. These are some mistakes you must avoid on the path of self-discovery:

  • Not Identifying Your First Action

Discovery of oneself requires that you take action to achieve them. after all that’s the mean point of undergoing the path. Most times, in the beginning, it can feel overwhelming to get started-too far off, Even specific, measurable goals that are achievable within a year can feel that way.

That is why it’s important to think about where you did like to get started. I am not telling you to create a big plan of action. Doing that will likely have the opposite effect than what you want. Instead, identify your first step so that you will actually get started. Also, you have to bear in mind identifying your first action is possible. But to do that, you need to be sure not to make the mistakes of fear.

  • Not Been Patient Enough

When it comes to getting started. You spend too much time planning and analyzing. You never take action. Once you do get started, your patience quickly turns impatience. You get frustrated early on and quit.

Practice patience after you find something worth committing to. Waiting on a sign to get started is stupid. A popular quote always says:

“Anyone who has never made a mistake
has never tried anything new.”― Albert Einstein

Patience is a key factor on the path of self-discovery. This is a core value you will keep building yourself on daily. Without patience, there are a lot of things you will miss track of self-discovery. you have to give in all of yourself, time, and sincerity into it. Oftentimes due to impatience we get tempted to replicate the success of certain people who inspires us. This makes sense but our intentions to follow the same path could be very different from theirs. You need to be clear about your intentions and be motivated in your pursuit.

  • Don’t Be Afraid To Make Mistakes

Don’t worry about making mistakes. Worry about doing something that matters. Here’s what’s going to happen when you decide to work towards self-discovery.

  • It will be a little eerie at first, but with patience, you’ll start to enjoy yourself.
  • You’ll start to feel passionate because you’re finally doing what you want to do instead of just talking about it.
  • The certain moment where you’re ready to quit will come (the dark times). But you’re inches away from succeeding. If you make it through the path down, you become a champion.

You’re never going to have it all figured out. But with time you’ll come closer to doing what you were put on this earth to do. It takes a lot of self-awareness and experimentation. The main goal is to get started.

  • No Set / Drafted Goal (s)

This is a great way to accomplish nothing. Draft one goal. Set a time frame to complete it. Once you reach your goal you can move on to something else. Setting a lot of goals spreads you too distracted and keeps you away from focusing. Your personal values, or the specific qualities you view as most important and meaningful, can tell you a lot about the goals. Get Started- The Necessity Of Positive Affirmations   Below are some questions you could ask yourself before setting out your goals:

  • Why do I do the things I do?
  • In my life what drives me?
  • What is my goal?
  • What kind of impact do my choices have on the life I want?

Then, apply these questions to all areas of your life and set out your goals. (For simple designs try: http://canva.com)

we can accomplish any goal we set for ourselves.” — Karen Casey.
  • Avoiding Learning Or Acquiring New Skills / Ideas

Most people have a particular taste for something or other — crafting, home improvement, cooking, or any number of other skills. As part of the self-discovery process, you might consider taking some time to consider your unique abilities and how you might use them. The mistake you make is running away from those things especially when it doesn’t amaze you at the beginning.

Maybe you can’t name many passions. That’s OK! If you haven’t done much for yourself in a long time, you might not remember what you used to enjoy.

One good way to begin figuring this out? Do something new and totally different. You won’t know what you enjoy until you give it a shot, right?

“A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something
he can learn in no other way.”- Mark Twain.

You’re in charge of the journey, but don’t feel afraid to meander off the main path. The more ground you cover through self-exploration, the more you’ll discover about yourself. Self-discovery is a personal and intimate journey that gets clearer as we make progress. However, our purpose becomes truly meaningful if it positively impacts our life, friends, community, and the rest of the world.

Although the mistakes you must avoid on the path to self-discovery are tremendous. It takes time and all the steps listed above to overcome those mistakes.
